Jan Lauer, 79, Bismarck, formerly of McClusky, ND died Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at Baptist Health Care Center in Bismarck after a short rehabilitation stay.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 1 at United Methodist Church, McClusky. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, February 28 at the Hertz Funeral Home, McClusky. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.

Jan was born May 21, 1942 in Harvey, ND. She was the daughter of Christian & Pauline (Stein) Braunberger. She grew up on the family farm in Harris Township and attended school in McClusky.

Jan married Lloyd (Fuzzy) Lauer October 2, 1959 in McClusky. Jan was a stay-at-home mom until their youngest child started school. She started working at the Sheridan Memorial Home, McClusky in 1984 assisting with the care of residents until she retired in 2014. She was a member of the McClusky United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and was part of the Women's Auxiliary. She was also a Red hatter.

Jan was a loving mother of 5 children and took great pleasure in spoiling all of her grandkids. She enjoyed canning, gardening, playing cards, dice games, and spending time with family and friends. She was a great friend to many. Her biggest joy was cooking and baking for her family. All of her family members had their favorite dish and it brought her great joy to honor their requests to cook their favorites and watch them enjoy. She is best known by family and friends for her caramel rolls.

Jan lost her wonderful husband Lloyd "Fuzzy" after 61 years of marriage in 2020. She is survived by her children Perry & Cecilia Lauer of Ramsey, MN; Sheila & Patrick Faul, Corey & Melissa Lauer all of McClusky; Lauri & Greg Schlosser of Bismarck; Brendon & Stacy Lauer of Bryan, TX; 12 grandchildren & 1 great grandchild; two brothers Donald (Marion) Braunberger, Fargo, ND and Leslie (Ginger) Braunberger, Mitchell, SD; one sister Marlene Martzolf, Billings, MT.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Albin Braunberger and Harley Braunberger; one sister Olinda Schaeffer; and a son-in law Troy Hanson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the donor's choice.
