William Shawn Rice, 51, Selz, ND died Thursday, November 11, 2010 at his home in Selz.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17 at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey. Burial will be in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND.
William Shawn Rice was born March 3, 1959 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He was the son of Duane and Elizabeth (Dorotik) Rice. The family moved to Albuquerque, NM and he grew up and attended school there. He entered the Navy on December 17, 1979 and he served aboard the USS Sperry. He was honorably discharged on December 16, 1982 and he returned to Albuquerque. In 1983 he moved to California and resided in several communities. He moved to Selz, ND in 2003. He had most recently been employed by Swanberg Construction. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved to tinker and could fix practically anything needing it.
William is survived by his daughter, Ashley Anderson of Painesville, Ohio; mother, Jo Renn, Albuquerque, NM; sister, Susan Walker of Datil, NM; brothers, Byron (Lisa) Rice of Glenallen, Alaska and Jeff Renn of Albuquerque, NM. He is also survived by nephews, Waylon Walker, Joshua Rice and Zachary Rice and friend Joe Goldade.
He was preceded in death by his father.
