Weldon A. Wagner, 87, of Bismarck, ND and formerly of McClusky, ND died Sunday, September 10, 2023, at Baptist Health and Rehab in Bismarck.
Weldon was born on June 29, 1936, in Max, ND to Rudolph and Bertha (Finkbeiner) Wagner. He was baptized and confirmed at Peace Lutheran Church in Max. He graduated from Max High School in 1954. He farmed near Max and Benedict and worked as a butcher at Sjol's Grocery in Max and National Foods in Minot.
On April 7, 1957, he married the love of his life, Eunice Polsfut, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Max. They continued working and farming in the Max and Benedict area where they started raising their three daughters. In 1966 they purchased a dairy and grain farm near McClusky. In the early 1980's beef cattle were added to the farming operation.
Farming was Weldon's passion. He was talented at inventing tools and equipment to use on the farm. Fishing and hunting with friends were favorite pastimes. He sang in choirs, enjoyed music, especially accordion music and he and Eunice loved to dance.
Weldon enjoyed participating in community events. He served on the Sheridan County Association Board and was president of the McClusky Lions Club and the McClusky School Board. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in McClusky where he served on several boards. Weldon's Christian faith continued to be a priority throughout his life and death.
In October 2022 Weldon and Eunice moved to Hay Creek Lodge in Bismarck.
Weldon is survived by his wife of 66 years, Eunice, their daughters Claudette (Roger) Abbe of Grand Forks, Laura (Ron) Daede of Rochester, MN and Karla (Tim) Arndt of Beaver Dam, WI; 6 grandchildren, Danielle (Evan) Andrist, Rachel (Eric) Burchett, Thomas Daede, Elizabeth Daede, Carolyn (Brandon) Goesch, and Sarah Arndt; 3 great grandchildren, Leo Burchett, Emilia Andrist, and Weldon Andrist; brothers Wallace (Ann) Wagner, Arden (Sande) Wagner, Kermit Wagner, and sister-in-law Mary Wagner.
Weldon was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Virgil and Keith, and sister-in-law Gayle Wagner.
Funeral services will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church in McClusky on Friday, September 15, at 2 p.m. Visitation will be held at the church beginning at 12:30 p.m. prior to the service. The burial will be in the McClusky City Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to The McClusky Ambulance Service.
