Wayne Kennedy, 75, Harvey, ND died on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at the St. Aloisius Hospital in Harvey, ND. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, July 21 at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, Harvey, ND.

Wayne was born June 28, 1942 in Devils Lake. He was the son of Rowan and Esther (McCloud) Kennedy. Wayne grew up and attended school near Minnewaukan through the eighth grade. He worked on the family farm until the age of 18 when he entered the Navy. Following his honorable discharge from the Navy, Wayne returned to North Dakota. He was a truck driver for Weist Trucking for a time. He married Darlene Lange on August 15, 1975 in Carrington. They moved to Selz, ND in 1978. They later moved to a farm northwest of Selz in 1994. Wayne worked for Selz Grain as a truck driver from 1978 until 1996. He then went to work for Tom McKinven as truck driver and then Ritterman Trucking of York, ND. He retired in 2009. Darlene died on May 29, 2014.

Wayne enjoyed reading western books, listening to country music, playing the fiddle, watching John Wayne movies, and spending time with his grandchild, May.

Wayne is survived by his sons, Darrell Kennedy, John Kennedy, Dean Arneson Jr., Wayne Kennedy Jr.; daughters, Brenda Collins and Michelle Berg; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, Norman, Kenny, and Ray; sister, Mary Ann Kennedy.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Darlene; brother, Lando.
