Walter "Bud" Metcalf, 61 of Martin died Monday, February 8, 2016 at his home near Martin. Funeral services will be held at the Trinity Bethany Lutheran Church of Harvey on Friday February 12, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Hertz Funeral Home of Harvey.
Walter was born on January 7, 1955 in Oppenheim, Germany. He was the son of Lauren and Rosemarie (Kunzel) Metcalf. He grew up in Germany, moving to the United States at the age of six. They lived in El Paso, Texas. They moved to North Dakota in 1992 and lived on a farm near Martin, North Dakota.
Bud married Lola Plunkett in June 18, 1997. Bud worked for Murphy Brothers Expo for many years where he ran the Zipper Ride. He also operated a bar in Hurdsfield. Bud worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at the St. Aloisius Nursing of Harvey for many years. Later he was a caregiver for his parents.
Bud enjoyed fishing, hunting, lawn work, and traveling in Europe and the United States. He loved his favorite cats and his dog Blonde.
Bud is survived by his wife, Lola of Martin; daughter, Grace; son, Loren both at home; son, Ryan (Mandi Lippstrew) of Bismarck; granddaughter, Kiera Jelle; brothers, James; sister, Barbara Brown. Bud was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Michael.
