Walter Kukert 95 McClusky, ND died Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at the Stadter Center in Grand Forks, ND.

There will be a private funeral service and interment in the McClusky City Cemetery.

Walter was born on December 19, 1918 in Estury, Saskatchewan, Canada. He was the son of John and Rosina (Huber) Kukert. The family moved to a farm near Kief, ND in the 1920's. He attended country school near Kief. Walter married Lorraine Hegel on October 15, 1940 in McClusky, ND. They lived and farmed south of Kief for several years before moving to a farm twelve miles northwest of McClusky. He worked for the Sheridan County ASCS office and also was a janitor at the McClusky High School. He managed the Parkview Apartments in McClusky for several years. They moved into McClusky in 1969. His wife Lorraine died on January 1, 2014.

Walter was a former member of the McClusky Baptist Church where he served as a trustee and Sunday School Superintendent. Walters's hobbies were gardening and tinkering in his garage.

Walter is survived by his, daughter, Elaine (Bruce) Sease of McClusky; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Laurel Kukert of McClusky; sisters Elsie Reiswig of McClusky and Emma Herr of Garrison.

Walter was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lorraine; son, Delmer Kukert; brothers, Bill and Albert Kukert; sisters, Melita Johnson, Rosie Johnson, Elvina Klingman and Alma Hegel.
