Viola Henne, 92, McClusky died Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at the CHI St. Alexius Hospital in Bismarck.

Funeral services will be held at the St. John's Lutheran Church of McClusky on Tuesday May 16, 2017 at 2:00 p.m.

Visitation will be held at the Hertz Funeral Home, McClusky, ND on Monday May 15, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Burial will be at the McClusky City Cemetery.

Viola Augusta Henne was born October 28, 1924 on a farm south of Coleharbor, North Dakota. She was the daughter of William and Cora (Danks) Bartz. Viola grew up and attended school at the Coleharbor Public School graduating as salutatorian in 1943. Viola attended Minot State University for five summers and received her teaching certification. She taught for many years in McLean County rural schools. Viola was once married to Lee Smith of Elbowoods, ND and Corinne and Diana were born to this union. Viola married Adolph Henne Jr. on May 28, 1958 at Underwood, ND. Three children were born to this union; Tammy, Tim, and Laurie. They lived and farmed fourteen miles north of Pickardville. They retired in 1979 and moved to Pickardville. Adolph died on April 10, 1994. Following Adolph's death Harold Morley and Viola became friends and companions; they shared many trips to Florida, fishing trips as well as going to coffee in Denhoff until his death. Viola moved into McClusky in 2005.

Viola was a member of the St John's Lutheran Church; LWML, and the McClusky Senior Citizens. She served as a Sunday school teacher and 4-H leader. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, and quilting having made over 50 quilts. She also enjoyed gardening and had many flower beds.

Viola is survived by her children, Corinne (Mike) Callas of Rock Springs, WY, Diana Sorensen and her husband (Mike) Mudd of Billings, MT, Tammy L. (Jim) Nordquist of McClusky, Timothy (Darnell) Henne, Tulare, CA; Laura (Troy) Krein of Bismarck; step-daughters, Mary Ann Slice and Lola Foster of Prescott, Arizona; step-son, Charles Henne of Laurel, MT; 16 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; her sister, Eloise Gussner of Bonny Lake, WA; sister-in-law, Ellen Bartz of Bismarck.

Viola was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, grandson, Kyle Henne; brother, Carl Bartz; and sister, Delores Lee.
