Verneita Fields, 92 of Fargo, ND formerly of Harvey died Thursday, April 28, 2022 at the Sanford Hospital in Fargo.

Funeral services will be at the Cornerstone Community Church North Campus of Harvey on Saturday May 7, 2022 at 2:00 p.m.

Visitation will be on Friday May 6 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey, ND.

Burial will be in the Sunnyside Cemetery, Harvey, ND.

Verneita Cutter was born on July 30, 1929 to Verneita Cutter (Vernie Susag) and Zelotes Cutter in her Grandparent's home outside of Calvin, ND.  Verneita would attend numerous country and city schools in ND, SD and Montana.

In 1947, Verneita graduated from high school in Calvin, ND.  From there she went on to Trinity Nursing School in Minot, ND.  She took various courses through Minot State, Trinity and finished up with a year of Clinicals at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, IL.  In 1950 she graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing.

After graduating, Verneita was offered a position in Denver, CO.  It was in Denver that she met and married Samuel Fields, and they had 4 children together.

Verneita and her children moved to Ashley, ND where she worked at the Ashley Medical Center till 1975.  In 1975 Verneita moved to Harvey, ND to be closer to family.  She worked for St. Aloisius Medical Center and Nursing Home until she retired.  In 2014 she moved to Senior Apartments in West Fargo, ND, and in 2021 she moved to an Assisted Living Facility in Fargo, ND.

Verneita is survived by her children, son, William "David" (Cathy) Fields of Green Lake, WI, daughter, Leah Fields of Drake, CO, son, Nathan (Marilee) Fields of Ft. Collins, CO and Jonathan (Shelly) Fields of West Fargo, ND;  sister, Zyella Voiles of Menomonee Falls, WI, brother, Mack (Pat) Susag of Harvey, ND, brother, Dick Susag of Dana Point, Ca, and sisters-in-law, Kathy Susag of Tacoma, WA and Dianne Susag of Anamoose, ND.  grand-children, Dillon (Emily) West of Portland, OR, Amber Murphy of Longmont, CO and Brianna (Ben) Heyer of Omaha, NE; great grandchildren, Ava and Sage West of Portland, OR.  Special longtime friend Peggy Pribula of Grand Forks, ND.

Verneita in preceded in death by her parents, stepfather, Syg Susag, aunt and uncle Veda & Melvin Thompson, brother, Jim Susag, brother-in-law, Howard Voiles, sister-in-law, Carol Susag, niece, Kim Susag and nephew, Terry Voiles.
