Twila Rau, 91, of Harvey died Sunday January 12, 2020 at the St. Aloisius Hospital of Harvey.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 16 2020 at St, Martin's Lutheran Church, Anamoose, ND. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey, ND. Burial will be in the Kassel Reformed Cemetery, rural Denhoff, ND.
Twila Fay was born on October 2, 1928 on the family farm south of Martin to Christ Jr. and Martha (Pheifle) Schuh. She grew up and attended school south Anamoose and was also baptized and later confirmed at St. Martin's Lutheran Church. The family moved to a farm south of Anamoose where she helped in the farming operation. Twila married Arthur Rau of the Lincoln Valley area on June 1, 1952 at the St. Martin Lutheran Church in Anamoose. They were blessed with four children, Leon, Sheila, Sharon and Sharlene. They lived on the Rau family farm where she also had a large garden and raised chickens. Twila started working as a CNA at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey in 1986 and retired from there in 2007. Arthur died on March 7, 2002. Twila moved to Harvey September 2002 and enjoyed her retirement years spending time with family, friends and gardening.
Twila was a former member of the Kassel Reformed Church in Lincoln Valley and a current member of St. Martin's Lutheran Church.
Twila is survived by her daughters, Sheila (Scott) Hase, Wahpeton, Sharon (Carey)Lemer of Lolo, Montana, Sharlene Degenstein of Harvey; seven grandchildren, Tyna Fox, Sarah Bulson, Jamie Hase, Shawna McAree, Tanner Lemer, Rochell Lemer and Josh Degenstein; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Cecil (Betty) Schuh of Anamoose; sisters, Agnes (Don) Schmidt of Harvey, Betty Graham of Minot; and a honorary son Bob Rugenstein of Hankinson, ND; many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Leon; brother, Henry Schuh; sisters, Christine Hoffmann, Freida Hintz, Alma Miiller, Beatrice Breese.
