Obituary

Theresa Schwan , 96 of Harvey died Sunday, March 3, 2013 at the Heart of America Medical Center Nursing Home in Rugby.

Funeral mass will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Harvey, ND.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. with rosary services at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey, ND.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Theresa was born on April 29 1916 to Joseph and Caroline (Lesmeister) Grad on the family farm south of Balta. She grew up and attended school in the Balta area. She married John Schwan on July 2, 1934 at Selz, ND. They purchased a farm in 1944 near Balta. In 1973 they retired and moved to Harvey. John died in 1994 and Theresa sold her home and moved into an apartment in Harvey she continued to live in the apartment until moving to the St. Aloisius Nursing Home in March 2012. Theresa then moved to the Haaland Estates in Ruby in October 2012.

Theresa was a member of the St. Cecilia Catholic Church and its Altar Society, Catholic Daughters of America, both of Harvey. Theresa was also a member of the Christian Mothers in Orrin and a former member of the Hillside Homemakers.

Theresa enjoyed gardening, flowers, crafting, quilting, and embroidery. Theresa was a caregiver to many people. She also was an active farm wife and made the best homemade meals.

Theresa is survived by one son, Archie (Lorraine) Schwan of Rugby; three daughters, Delores Voeller of Great Falls, MT, Beatrice Plott of Salina, Kansas, Linda (Larry) Hannemen of Surrey, ND; 9 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 1 step-grandchild; 1 step-great-grandchild; sister, Betty (Gilbert) Rudnick of Anamoose; numerous nieces and nephews.

Theresa was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; sisters, Lena P. Hager, Rose Axtman; brothers, Louie Grad, Phillip Grad, Walter Grad, Edward Grad, Nick Grad and Leo Grad; two sons-in-law, Lyle Plott and Edward Voeller; one grandson, Kevin Plott; one granddaughter, Dawn Hanneman.
