Stephanie Ryan, 96 of Harvey, ND passed away peacefully with her children at her side on Saturday September 15, 2018 at the St. Aloisius Long Term Care Center in Harvey.
Services will be held at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND on Tuesday September 25, 2018 at 2:00 p.m.
Stephanie (Kuntz) Ryan was born on July 22, 1922 in Devils Lake, North Dakota. She was the youngest child of Urbanus and Mary (Kurtz) Kuntz who immigrated from Odessa Russia in 1913. Stephanie grew up in Devils Lake, attended public school and graduated from Devils Lake Central High School in 1941. Shortly after graduation she moved to Los Angeles, California where she worked for Heller's Engineering Defense Contractors. She returned to Devils Lake in1944 where she worked as a Bookkeeper for Dakota Transfer until 1953.
She married William "Bill" Ryan on July 7, 1953 in Devils Lake and moved to Rugby, ND where Bill was working for Ottertail Power Company. In 1958 they moved to Harvey, ND where they called home for the remainder of their lives.
Stephanie is a member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church. She was a member of the St. Cecilia Altar Society and the Harvey Homemaker Club. She enjoyed bird watching especially the robins who made their home in her backyard. She also enjoyed making crafts and playing cards with friends and was a member of the Harvey Golf Course. During their early retirement years, winters were spent in Mesa, AZ. Later on in life winters were spent in Minnetonka, MN closer to their daughter, Karen and her family.
Stephanie is survived by her son, Bill Jr. (Kerry) Ryan of Grand Fork, ND and daughter, Karen (Steve) Johnson of Eden Prairie, MN; four grandchildren, Chris (Jan) Ryan of Cincinnati, Ohio, Anna Ryan of Cleveland, Ohio, Michael Johnson of Minnetonka, MN and Daniel (Sammi) Johnson of Fargo, ND; three great-grandchildren, Lori, Kate and John Ryan of Cincinnati, Ohio; In Laws, Betty Bloomquist of Devils Lake, ND, Jeanie and Louie Moore of Billings, MT and Beverly Hoveland of Fargo, ND; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Stephanie was preceded in death by her Husband of 60 years, Bill Ryan who passed away on December 21, 2013, parents, six brothers; Urbanus the 3 rd , Valentine, Alex, Albert, Tony and Balzer Kuntz and two sisters; Katherine Walker, and Sr. Miriam Kuntz.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to all the Care-Givers at St Aloisius Long Term Care Center for their kindness, loving care and support provided to Stephanie.
