Sam Reiswig, 98, of McClusky died Wednesday April 24, 2019 at the Turtle Lake Community Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at the McClusky Baptist Church on Monday April 29, 2019 at 1:00 p.m.
Visitation will be held at the Hertz Funeral Home of McClusky on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Burial will be in the McClusky City Cemetery, McClusky, North Dakota
Sam was born on October 27, 1920 in Parshall, ND. He was the son of Ben and Minnie (Triebwasser) Reiswig. Sam grew up and attended school north of McClusky. He entered the army on December 9, 1942. He served in the army as a Medic and in the infantry in Africa and Sicily, Italy. Sam was honorably discharged on November 8, 1945. He married Elsie Kukert on October 4, 1945 in McClusky. They lived in McClusky. Sam worked for Henry Johnson and Froehlich's Ford for almost 17 years in McClusky. He then started Sam's Service Station in May of 1966. Sam retired at the age of 93 yrs. A hi point in Sam's life was visiting Washington D.C and traveling to many different states. One of Sam's greatest interests was his children and grandchildren and going to their school and church activities. Sam served on the McClusky City Council. He was a member of the McClusky Volunteer Fire Department for 29 years and was a member of the James Roberts Post 124, American Legion, McClusky Merchants, and attended the McClusky Baptist Church. Sam enjoyed working on small engines and bowling.
Sam is survived by his wife, Elsie of McClusky; two sons, Duane and Brenda Reiswig of Bismarck; Randy and Mary Reiswig of Mesa, AZ; daughter, Kathy Reiswig of McClusky; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Norris of Bismarck.
Sam was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Clarence, Ted, Lawrence, Elroy and Melvin; sisters, Esther Faul, Bertha Braunberger, Altrude Hoffer and Delores Buelow.
