Ruth Sauter, 95 of Bismarck formerly of, Goodrich, ND died Sunday October 23, 2016 at the St. Alexius Hospital of Bismarck.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 28 at Peace Lutheran Church in Goodrich.
Visitation (IN HARVEY) will be Thursday, October 27 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Hertz Funeral Home HARVEY, ND LOCATION
Burial will be in the Goodrich City Cemetery, Goodrich, ND.
Dorothea Ruth Sauter was born on September 22, 1921 in the Lincoln Valley area north of Denhoff, ND. Ruth was the daughter of Gottlieb and Barbara (Viel) Dockter. She grew up in the Lincoln Valley area before moving to a farm northwest of Goodrich. She attended rural school in Lincoln Valley and Goodrich areas. Ruth and Alvin Sauter were united in marriage on December 7, 1941 in Goodrich. They lived and farmed northeast of Goodrich. They moved into Goodrich in 1995 and retired. Alvin died on February 2, 1998. Ruth continued to live in Goodrich until moving to Bismarck in January of 2016.
Ruth was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church and served for over 20 years as treasurer for the ELCW. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Pioneer Homemakers Club all of Goodrich.
Ruth enjoyed quilting and sewing. She also made wedding cakes, a talent she provided on numerous occasions. Most of all she enjoyed cooking and entertaining family and friends.
Ruth is survived by a granddaughter, Melissa (Jerel) Hoheisel of Bismarck; grandson, Chad (Samantha) Sauter of Bismarck; three great-grandchildren, McKenna Hoheisel, Berkley Sauter and Sheldon Frueh; three step-great-grandchildren, Grant and Brook Thunderhawk and Hunter Hoheisel; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Sauter of Bismarck; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons Glen Sauter on July 21, 2001 and Larry Sauter on December 18, 2011; sisters, Christine Morlack, Mathilda Rau, Selma Werner, Eva Richter and Pauline Gepharth; two brothers, Reinhold Dockter and Gottlieb Dockter; sister-in-law, Irene Sauter.
