Ruth Dosch, 94, Selz, ND died Monday, May 14, 2018 at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey.
Funeral mass will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Selz, ND. Visitation will Friday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m at the Hertz Funeral Home in Harvey with the Rosary/Prayer Friday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Ruth was born on December 14, 1923 near Esmond, ND. She was the daughter of Lorenz and Elizabeth (Voeller) Heilman. Always a hard worker she began babysitting at age 9 in Esmond. In 1932 along with her siblings and father she began singing in the church choir. They also competed and won many singing contests on a Devils Lake radio show. At age 17 she went to work at the Devils Lake Hospital, first as a housekeeper and then in the dietary department. She married Sebastian Dosch on July 3, 1945. They farmed and milked cows near Wellsburg ND. In 1967 she moved to Selz ND. She worked at St Aloisous Hospital for 12 ½ years. She found enjoyment planting flowers and maintaining a large vegetable garden and yard. Whether it was her canned goods, baked goods or a crochet project she loved sharing with family and friends. For relaxation she would read, sing or play guitar. She was a member of Catholic Order of Foresters, VFW Aux, Christian Mothers and St Anthony's Altar Society. Ruth loved her home in Selz and was able to live there longer with the help of her community especially Brenda and Jamey Weinmann and family. She entered the St. Aloisius Nursing Home in June 2017.
Ruth is survived by three sons, David of Claremore, OK, Kenny (Deb) of Maddock and Terry of Minot; two daughters, Donna (Linwood) Allen of Durham, NC, Cyndee (Doran) Weigel of Strawberry Lake; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; sisters, Eleanore Ehni of Fessenden, Lillian Kraft of Fargo, Lorraine Klautt of Minnesota, Anna Rose West of Washington and Margie Teeters of Montana. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Bonnie; infant son, Joseph; brothers, Henry, Lawrence and Edwin; sisters, Viola Heilman, Irene Beedy, Isabelle Vetsch, Angela Held, Arlene Selzler and Lena Vetsch; daughter in laws Kedrin Dosch and Donna Dosch.
