Rueben Tessmann 64 of Goodrich died suddenly on Friday December 24, 2010 at his home.

Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Goodrich on Thursday December 30, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be held at the Hertz Funeral Home of Harvey on Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Goodrich City Cemetery, Goodrich, ND.

Rueben Paul Tessmann was born on August 9, 1946 in Harvey, ND. He was the son of David and Frieda (Opp) Tessmann. He grew up and attended rural school north of Goodrich and graduated from the Goodrich High School in 1964. He attended North Dakota State School Science in Wahpeton. He then returned to the family farm where he began farming with his father. Rueben served over ten years in the North Dakota National Guard. Rueben and his brother Eugene began farming together in 1965.

Rueben was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Albert Block American Legion Post in Goodrich. He served on the Legion Honor Guard for many community events. Rueben was presently serving as a director of the Goodrich Rural Fire Department and Boone Township Board. He was a member of the Wells Eagles Aerie #3080, Harvey.

Reuben was an avid NASCAR fan and attended many races. He enjoyed farming and fishing. He bowled in Harvey Leagues and served as league president for many years. Rueben enjoyed daily trips to Harvey where he played the quarter game. He always said he "had to come to town for parts anyway."

Rueben is survived by his brothers, Eugene and Roger Tessmann both of Goodrich; sister and brother-in-law, Norma and Gary Allen of Chamberlain, South Dakota; two nieces and three nephews; and also great nieces and great nephews. Rueben was preceded in death by his parents; sister-in-law, Debbie Tessmann; brother-in-law, Jack Zumbaum.
