Ruby J
Steinhorst
December 9, 1925 – August 2, 2019
Ruby J. Steinhorst, 93, Denton, TX formerly of Harvey, ND died Friday, August 2, 2019 at the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Denton.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 10 at Cornerstone Community Church South Campus, Harvey. Burial will follow in the Sunnyside Cemetery, Harvey, ND. Visitation will be Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey, ND.
Ruby was born on December 9, 1925 in Harvey, ND to Ben E. and Ella (Faul) Seibel. She grew up on a farm southwest of Harvey. She would tell of riding a horse to school. Every day her mother would pack cookies in her lunch, and one day when they were forgotten her father brought them up to school so she would not be disappointed. She was the eldest of five children and caretaker to her four younger brothers, Ben, Don, Jerry, and Marlo.
She married the love of her life, Wilbert Faul, on February 3, 1946. The first months of their marriage were spent living with Wilbert's parents until they were able to get their own farm in the hills north of Hurdsfield. They lived in the hills until they bought Leander Faul's farm and were blessed with indoor plumbing. They were parents to three children: June born in 1948, Bruce born in 1952, and Cheryl born in 1956. She loved to play Rook with Wilbert and his cousins. After the death of Wilbert on October 11, 1969, the family moved to town.
She married Linden Steinhorst in 1972 and moved to a small farm in Alexandria, Minnesota where she would live the next 20 years. They enjoyed many of the following years traveling, including a much-beloved trip to Germany. Her nephew, Daleyn Seibel, would spend his summers from 7th grade through high school with Ruby and Linden and viewed them as a second family. After Linden's death in 1989, she returned to Harvey, where she lived and spent her time cheering on her grandson, Grant, when he wrestled. In 2014, she moved to Denton, Texas to be near her daughters. She was loved by those who took care of her, who referred to her as Aunt Ruby.
She is survived by her children, June Halbrook and husband Bill, Bruce Faul and wife Kathy, and Cheryl Sartain, and by her brother, Marlo Seibel and wife Sharon. Her grandchildren are Heather Walker and husband Marty, Hope Burns and husband Alex, Luke Faul and wife Lydia, Geoff Faul and fiancée Jeannie Johnson, and Grant Sartain. She is survived by nine great grandchildren, Wynonna, Logan, Tatum, Zoe, Cale, Gabe, Hannah, Sarah, and Carter, who all lovingly referred to her as "old, old grandma," and numerous cousins and relatives.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Ben and Ella Seibel, husbands Wilbert Faul and Linden Steinhorst, brothers Ben, Don, and Jerry, and great-grandson, Ezekiel. She went to be with the Lord on August 2, 2019.
