Rosemarie Metcalf, 78, rural Martin, ND died Monday, October 25, 2010 at her farm home north of Martin. Services will be held at a later date with burial in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey is in charge of arrangements.

Rosemarie Kunzel was born on January 12, 1932 in Berlin, Germany. She grew up in Berlin. Her parents died near the end of World War II and she lived with her grandparents. She married Lauren Metcalf on October 29, 1955 in Oppenheim, Germany. They lived in Germany where Lauren served in the United States Army. Rosemarie and Lauren moved with their children to El Paso,Texas where they spent many years. They later moved to New Mexico, to Harvey, ND and she was currently living on a farmstead north of Martin, ND. Lauren died on July 25, 2009. Rosemarie enjoyed sewing, knitting and working in her flower gardens. Rosemarie is survived by two sons, Walter Metcalf and James Metcalf both of rural Martin; daughter, Barbara Brown in Afghanistan; 18 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; brothers, Hans and Klaus Kunzel both of Berlin, Germany. Rosemarie was preceded in death by her parents; husband Lauren; son Michael Metcalf.
