Ronald J. Bartz, 60, Martin, ND died Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at the St. Aloisius Hospital in Harvey, ND.

Funeral services will be held at the First Lutheran Church of Harvey on Monday July 17, 2017 at 11:00 a.m.

Visitation will be held at the Hertz Funeral Home of Harvey on Sunday July 16, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Burial will be in the Anamoose Baptist Cemetery, Anamoose, ND.

Ronald James Bartz was born on June 23, 1957 in Harvey, ND. He was the son of Robert and Frieda (Filler) Bartz. Ron grew up near Anamoose and attended the White Township School until the 6 ^th grade. He then attended Anamoose Public School where he graduated in 1975. Ron attended Bismarck Junior College for one year. He then went to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and attended a Bible College for a short time. Ron returned to Anamoose and worked at the McClusky Lumber Yard before starting his own carpentry business in Harvey and surrounding areas.

On August 9, 1986, Ron was united in marriage to Laurie (Gunlikson) Bartz in the Anamoose Baptist Church. On August 1, 1990, they were blessed with one son, Robert (Bob). In the summer of 1996, they moved to their farm south of Martin where they made their home. Ron loved to watch Bob participate in all of his high school and college activities. There was rarely a time he missed a game or event.

Ron took pride in his horses and gave many wagon rides to friends and family, especially on Sundays when they had Bartz family gatherings at the farm. He also looked forward to giving sleigh rides to all generations of the Bartz family on New Year's Day. He enjoyed hooking up his team of horses to his covered wagon that he had made from scratch and going on trail rides. He would also take his team to participate in the Rollag Threshing event in Minnesota. Ron's happiest moment with his team of horses was the honor of giving his son and his bride a ride on their wedding June 17, 2017. Ron loved listening to gospel music and taking the time to converse with friends and family.

Ron was a member of the West River Teamsters, the Western Minnesota Threshing Association and served on the Martin Township board.

Ron is survived by his wife, Laurie of Martin; son, Bob (Megan) Bartz of Stanley, ND; 2 grandchildren, Mason and Brynlee of Stanley; brothers, Robert (Cheryl) Bartz of Harvey; Clarence (Marion) Bartz of Fessenden; Lawrence (Nancy) Bartz of Anamoose; sister, Mary (Don) Beck of Anamoose; many nieces, nephews and in-laws.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents.
