Obituary

Roger Trautmann 75 of Goodrich died Sunday November 9, 2014 at the Sanford Hospital of Bismarck. Funeral services will be held at the Grace Lutheran Church of McClusky on Saturday November 15, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the church on Saturday. Burial will be in Hope Mennonite Cemetery, Chaseley, ND. Arrangements are with Hertz Funeral Home of McClusky.

Roger was born on November 24, 1938 in Jamestown, ND. He was the son of John and Martha (Hoffmann) Trautmann. Roger grew up on a farm in the Medina area. He moved to Jamestown in 1954 and graduated from Jamestown High School in 1956. Roger entered the army and served three years stateside. He was honorably discharged in 1959. Roger moved to Hurdsfield, ND. Roger married Sandy Swardstrom. They lived in Hurdsfield and later moved to Glasgow, MT. They later divorced. Roger then farmed near Hurdsfield. He met and married Carol (Thompson) Wiest. They lived in Hurdsfield and Goodrich. Carol died in 1996. He worked as a truck driver on road construction and most recently worked for Sheridan County as a maintainer operator. He married Connie Wollman on November 12, 2000 in Goodrich. Roger retired from the county in 2008 after 32 years of service.

Roger was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church of Goodrich. Roger was also a member of the Albert Block American Legion Post #56 of Goodrich, ND. He served as its Adjutant for 25 years and as the 4th District Commander for three terms. He was a member of the American Legion Honor Guard. Roger was a member of the Am Vets in Bismarck and the VFW in Harvey.

Roger was a 40 year member of the Goodrich Fire Department where he served as secretary treasurer for many years. He served on the Goodrich Ambulance service for 43 years and he served as squad leader for two years. Roger was a member of the Wells Eagles Aerie in Harvey.

His hobbies were woodworking, watching wildlife and collecting wildlife statues.

Roger is survived by his wife, Connie of Turtle Lake; son, Jim Trautmann of Minneapolis; step-son, Greg (Cindy) Wiest of Velva; step-daughter, Terry Wiest of Minot; 7 step-grandchildren; 5 step-great-grandchildren; sister, Judy Wescom of Jamestown.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Gottlieb Sherbensky; wife, Carol; sister, Sharlene Albrecht.
