Rodney Hirschkorn, 66, Harvey died Friday, April 20, 2012 of natural causes at his home in Harvey.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 24 at 10:30 a.m. at the Faith Lutheran Church which meets at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Harvey.
Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hurdsfield, ND.
Visitation will be Monday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey.
Rodney Ray Hirschkorn was born April 25, 1945 in Harvey to Alfred and Norma (Lange) Hirschkorn. He grew up on a farm near Hurdsfield and attended Hurdsfield High School. Later in life he earned his GED. Rodney served six years in the North Dakota National Guard from 1966 to 1972. Rodney married Judy Rexine on October 19, 1966 at Chaseley. They made their home in Harvey and raised their two daughters there. While living in Harvey, Rodney was first employed by Ralph's Super Value as a butcher. In 1976 he began his bulk truck driver career with Heintz Oil, which then became Helm Oil and currently for Beuchler Oil in Harvey.
Rodney enjoyed hunting, gardening, working in the yard, woodworking and riding horse. He was a member of the National Rifleman's Association and once belonged to the James River Gun Club in Cathay.
Rodney is survived by his wife of 46 years, Judy; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Deann and Steve Bigelow of Makoti, Darla and James "Smoke" Knutson of Beulah; five grandchildren, Juria, Shelby, Remington, Ashley and Kelsi; mother, Norma of Harvey; sister, Sandra (Willis) Schmitt of Bismarck; brother, Allen, (Darlene) of Wing.
Rodney was preceded in death by his father, Alfred and sister Ronda Fetch.
