Robert Weisz, 94 , Hurdsfield, ND passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2019 at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home, Harvey, ND.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 9, 2019 at the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Goodrich, ND.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday, November 8 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey, ND.

Robert (Bob) LeRoy Weisz was born on March 31, 1925 to Andrew and Lydia (Schmitke) Weisz at his grandfather's (Adam Weisz) farm northwest of Hurdsfield, where his parents were living at the time. At age seven, Bob and his family moved to a farm his father purchased southwest of Hurdsfield, where Bob lived until entering the hospital on September 1, 2019 and then the nursing home. He was the only son of Andrew and Lydia.

Bob attended country schools for his elementary school education and graduated from Sheyenne River Academy, in Harvey, ND in 1943. He met Bernice Meier through his sister who was dating Bernice's brother and on November 4, 1946, they married in a double wedding with his sister, Virginia and Leo Widicker in the home of Henry Weisz in Hurdsfield. Bernice passed away unexpectedly after 60 years of marriage in 2007.

Bob farmed with his father, eventually taking over the farm and then farmed with his son, Robin until age 86 but continued to live on the farm in the home he built with Bernice. Four children were born to their union – Renee, Rita, Rayleen and Robin. Bob was very talented as shown in his woodworking, welding, and mechanical abilities. He was a member of the Hurdsfield Seventh-day Adventist Church and later a member of the Goodrich Seventh-day Adventist Church, holding positions of leadership during many of those years.

Bob is survived by his daughters: Renee (Peter) Hills, Applegate, CA; Rita Weisz, Hurdsfield/Bismarck, ND; Rayleen (Alan) Hansen, Lakeville, MN; and son, Robin (Lori), Hurdsfield, ND. Grandchildren include: Kimberly (Mark) Hills Callaghan, Dixon, CA; Andrew (Whittney) Hills, Ladera Ranch, CA; Derek Hansen, Lincoln, NE; Brooke Hansen, Lakeville, MN; Robert "Robbie" Weisz and Ryan Weisz, Hurdsfield, ND. Great grandchildren: May, Brendan, and Ruth Callaghan and Mason, Owen, and Dylan Hills. Bob is also survived by his sisters: Virginia Widicker, Bowdon, ND; Dorothy Weisz, Lincoln, NE; Dessa Hardin, Loma Linda, CA; and Helen (Don) Myers, Cedar City, UT; and many nieces and nephews.

Bob is preceded in death by his wife; his parents; two sisters – Lorraine Patzner and Betty Gutknecht; brothers-in-law – Leo Widicker, Willard Gutknecht, Robert Patzner, and Barton Hardin.
