Robert R. Seibel, 87, Minot formerly of Harvey died Friday, January 6 at the Trinity Hospital, Minot, ND.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 10, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Harvey, ND. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey, ND.
Robert Ray Seibel was born on November 27, 1924 at Bowdon, ND. He was the son of Louis G. and Kathryn (Marzolf) Seibel. He grew up and attended school in Harvey. He was inducted into the army on May 17, 1943. Robert served in the Pacific during World War II including the New Guinea campaign. He was honorably discharged on January 30, 1946. Robert returned to Harvey and worked briefly at the Gambles Store. Robert married Bertha Thomas on November 26, 1947 in Harvey. Robert started his career with the Soo Line Railroad in Harvey, first as a fireman and retired as a locomotive engineer in 1986. He continued to live in Harvey until moving to Minot three years ago.
Robert enjoyed spending time with his son and family. He was a fan of Minnesota Twins and Vikings, Tiger Woods and the Harvey Hornets.
Robert was a member of the St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Harvey, ND. He was a member of the Wells Eagles Aerie and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Harvey, the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and the Moose Lodge of Minot, ND.
Robert is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Teri Seibel of Minot, ND;
three grandsons, Troy (Melissa) of Bismarck, Tanner (Sarah) of Bismarck, Taylor (Erin) of Castle Rock, CO; five great-grandchildren.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter at birth; wife, Bertha on December 25, 1974; brother, Raymond; sister, Verdean Sander.
