Robert Helm, Jr., 59, Harvey, ND died Monday, June 5, 2017 at the CHI St. Alexius Hospital in Bismarck, ND.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 9, 2017 at Trinity Bethany Lutheran Church, Harvey, ND.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 8 at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey, ND.

Robert James Helm, Jr. was born on January 11, 1958 in Harvey to Robert and Lillian (Liebelt) Helm. He grew up on the family farm south of Martin, ND and graduated from the Harvey High School in 1976. He lived in the Harvey area most of his life. He began working for Border States Paving of Fargo. He started out as a laborer and worked his way up to being a construction supervisor. He oversaw asphalt and concrete projects for Border States and was with the company for over 30 years. He followed that up working for five years at Harvey Sand and Gravel in Harvey.

Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and riding his motorcycle. He was known for his great sense of humor and was quick with the one liners. His dog Baylor went everywhere with him. Robert was once married to Susan Rieke.

Robert was a member of Trinity Bethany Lutheran Church where he was confirmed.

Robert is survived by a daughter, Paige Helm of Bismarck; son, Dalton Helm of Bismarck; brother, Arlo (Kathy) Helm of Harvey; sisters, Jeannette Weltz of Harvey, Janice Kesler of Braham, MN; numerous nieces and nephews.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Kathy; brother, Larry; brothers-in-law, Leon Degenstein, Jerry Weltz and Jim Kesler.

Robert passed away on Monday, June 05, 2017 at a Bismarck hospital with his son and daughter at his side. Blessed be the memory of Robert Helm, Jr.
