Robert B. Cable, 92, of Harvey, ND formerly of Esmond died Friday, April 24, 2020 at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey.  Private services will be held Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, May 1 at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey.

CDC recommendations including distancing, hand cleansing, limiting your time spent at the funeral home and staying away if sick will be followed for the visitation.  Wearing of a mask to protect yourself and others is also recommended by the CDC and would be greatly appreciated.  Burial will follow the service in the Bethania Lutheran Cemetery, Wellsburg, ND.  The service will be livestreamed on Saturday, May 2 at 2 p.m. The YouTube link will be posted this Friday on his website obituary.

Robert Bowen Cable was born on September 21, 1927 to John B. and Georgia (Hughes) Cable in Winchester, KY.  He grew up on a farm near Beattyville, KY where he attended elementary and high school.  In 1947 he moved to North Dakota with his brother and attended NDSU.  He then decided to enter farming.  He moved to the Olwin Riveland farm near Wellsburg where he farmed and worked for Mr. Riveland.  Bob then served in the Army for two years and was stationed at Scofield Barracks, Hawaii.  Upon returning home he went back to farming.  Bob married Arlene Friestad Anderson and her four children on July 24, 1970.  He later adopted them and a daughter, Caroline was born a couple years later.  Bob farmed in East Fork Township for over 50 years retiring in 2001.

Bob was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Esmond where he served on the board.  He was also an avid golfer and was a member of the Harvey Country Club and the Maddock Golf Club.

Bob is survived by his wife, Arlene; daughters, Caroline (Quinn) Stein of Sioux Falls, SD, Tammy Pierce of Fargo and Traci Deck of Bismarck; son, Troy Cable of Olympia, WA; 8 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.  Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his son Trent Cable; brother Tom Cable; brothers-in-law, Roland Matthews and Mark Friestad.
