Richard Allen Bjorland, 69, rural Anamoose, ND died on Monday, August 28, 2023 at CHI St. Alexius Hospital in Bismarck, ND.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic, Anamoose, ND.

Visitation is Friday from 5 p.m to 7 p.m followed by a prayer service at 7 p.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Anamoose, ND.

Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday Sept. 2 at Calvary Cemetery in Jamestown, ND.

Richard Allen Bjorland was born on November 30, 1953 in Moorhead, MN.  He was the son of Orlen and Shirley (Peerboom) Bjorland.  He grew up in Dilworth and graduated from Dilworth High School in 1972.  He then served four years in the Minnesota National Guard and during that same time he worked for Valley Harvester Company building silos.  He married Eileen Lemer on August 30, 1975, in Anamoose.  They lived in Anamoose until moving to Jamestown in 1978. They had two daughters, Mitzi and Jennifer and a son Bryan.  Richard began his career as a truck driver for Wedgecore hauling steel buildings.  The family moved to Anamoose in 1985.  He worked for an area farmer and sold seed for Seed Tec.  He then ventured into running a buffalo feed lot on his farm north of Anamoose and was affiliated with North American Bison LLC in New Rockford.  In 2000 he started Bjorland Trucking, which he pursued full time and owned and operated until his passing.  He and Eileen were divorced in 2007.

Richard was known for being generous in helping where needed and expecting nothing in return.  Four days before his passing and in appreciation to his caregivers in the St. Alexius ICU, he hosted a pizza party for the staff. He was unable to eat or drink but he very much enjoyed the moment.

Richard is survived by his partner, Cheryl Driscoll of Anamoose; two daughters, Mitzi (Patrick) Arnold of Menoken, ND, Jennifer Bjorland (Tyler Harris) of Minot; son Bryan Bjorland (Jess) of Roseville, MN; grandsons, Kayden Arnold and Zander Harris; granddaughter, Brynn Arnold; brothers, Rob (Julie) Bjorland of Harvey, Rusty (Diane) Bjorland of Jamestown, Ron (Barb) Bjorland of Sabin, MN; sisters, Marilyn Bjorland of Los Angeles and Sandy Farthing of Jamestown; 10 nieces and nephews.  Richard was preceded in death by his parents.
