Raymond Lockrem, 87 of Salinas, California formerly of the Harvey area died Thursday October 25 at the Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday Nov. 2 at the Sunnyside Cemetery in Harvey.
Raymond G. Lockrem was born February 27, 1925 in Harvey to Ole and Martha Lockrem. He grew up north of Harvey and attended area schools. Raymond served in the United States Army from 1944-1946 in the areas of Ardennes, Rhine Land, and Central Europe. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge from December 16, 1944 to January 7, 1945. After the military he went to work for Fort Ord Engineering Division from 1949 until he retired in 1985, after 36 years of service. Upon his retirement, Raymond enjoyed visiting relatives, playing golf, going to casinos and touring all areas of California. He was also a 57 year member of the American Legion. In 2010, Raymond moved to Villa Serra Assisted Living Facility.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Ole and Martha Lockrem; brothers, Noble, George, Lloyd, Clarence and Raymond; sisters, Maria, Josephine, and Olga.
Raymond is survived by his wife of 36 years, Mitzie Lockrem; children, Maire Ann Nabzeska of Smartsville, CA, Daniel A. Lockrem of Vallejo, Chris N. Lockrem of Watsonville and Les L. Lockrem of Elk Grove; and sister Esther Schuh of St. Cloud, Minnesota.
