Phyllis Lorene Dieterle's life was too short by most standards, but a five year battle with cancer had taken its toll. She passed away peacefully with her loyal husband by her side, and by God's grace, she received her angel wings October 27, 2016.
Phyllis was born June 2, 1953 to Helen (Ponto) and Walter Martin, rural Kief. She grew up on the farm where she enjoyed milking cows and feeding the calves. In 1971, she graduated from Drake High School. She pursued schooling at Minot State College before employment brought her to the McClusky Public School System.
Phyllis married the love of her life, Myron Dieterle, on October 6, 1974 in McClusky. They made their home north of McClusky on the family farm for the entirety of their time together. Phyllis loved her family and farming, was an advocate for her children and enjoyed community involvement. She expressed this through involvement in her church, 4-H, the McClusky School Board and being a First Responder. She received State and Regional recognition for her role as a 4-H Leader.
Phyllis had many joys during her life, but she especially loved being a Mom and wondering what her boys would do next! As a family, she enjoyed traveling, hiking, backpacking, fishing, and bicycling to the hills west of the farm and stopping at Grandma & Grandpa Dieterle's for ice cream or popcorn on the return trip. She also enjoyed gardening, her pond, cooking, crafts, cake decorating, ceramics, stained glass and being a Grandma.
She will be greatly missed by her loving husband of 42 years, Myron; her sons Shannon (Michelle), Kief; Christopher (Amanda), Kief; Michael (Cyndi), Kief; daughter Summer (Eric) Blumhagen, Mandan; her grandchildren; sister Betty (David) Marschner, Voltaire; brother Myron (Jody) Martin, Bismarck; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
A service celebrating her life will be held Saturday, November 5th, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Faith Lutheran Church, Harvey. Visitation will held one hour prior to the service. Following the lunch, burial will be at West Scandia Lutheran Cemetery, rural Kief.
