Paulette Brown, 75, of Harvey died Sunday August 15, 2021 at the St. Aloisius Hospital in Harvey.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 19 at Faith Lutheran Church, Harvey, ND.
Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, Harvey, ND.
Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. followed by a prayer service at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey, ND.
Paulette was born on March 30, 1946 at Drake, ND. She was the daughter of Roy and Florence (Heil) Hornbacher. She grew up in Harvey where she attended elementary school and high school. Paulette began working in restaurants as a cook or as a server at a young age.
She was once married to Ray Tuenge and two children Kevin and Susan were born to this union. They divorced. Paulette then married the love of her life, Bruce Brown on October 20, 1970 in Puyallup, Washington and Deb and Lisa were born to this union. Bruce, Paulette, Kevin, Susan, Deb and Lisa were a family and moved to Wolf Point, MT and later to Kadoka, SD. Paulette and Bruce managed restaurants and truck stops for her parents. Paulette and Bruce moved their family back to Harvey in 1978 where they operated Hornbacher's Lunch and Bruce's Tavern. Bruce died on February 11, 2002 and she continued as a partner with her daughter Susan and later worked for her daughter Lisa at Hornbacher's Café. Retirement was not in her plans and Paulette continued working in the Deli at Warehouse Grocery in Harvey for three years, part time at Little Mart in Harvey and continued cooking at Hornbacher's Café.
Paulette had just joined the Faith Lutheran Church in Harvey where she had been attending. She was a former member of the Cornerstone Community Church and the Bethel Baptist Church in Harvey. Her hobbies included working puzzles, cross stitching, watching TV especially Westerns, and an occasional trip to a casino.
Paulette is survived by children, Kevin (Sheila) Tuenge, Susan (Don) Hoepfer, Debbie (Tim) Buchwitz, Lisa (Duane) Hager; two grandsons, Eric (Hannah) Tuenge and Zachery Hoepfer; granddaughter, Harley Hoepfer; two great-grandsons, Jaxon and Noah Tuenge, two step great-grandchildren, Isabella and Wyatt Korb all of Harvey; sisters, Delilah (Pete) Engen of Anamoose, ND, Bonnie (Larry) Hoffer of Fessenden, ND; brother, Tim (LaVonne) Hornbacher of Adams, MN and nieces and nephews, and her special friend Darvin Haux.
Paulette was preceded in death by her husband Bruce; parents; sister Francis Davidson.
