Paul Edward Stober was born June 9, 1925 on a farmstead near Goodrich, ND. He grew up on the family farm northwest of Goodrich and attended country school. He graduated from the Denhoff High School in 1943 and then attended Wahpeton State School of Science becoming a certified welder. He farmed with his father until he was drafted into the army in 1951. He served in the Korean War as a welder and heavy equipment operator in the 1343 Engineer Hq Bn, 5th Army. In 1953 he received an honorable discharge and came home to the family farm. On March 8, 1953 he married Winifred Wolitarsky in Turtle Lake, ND. He and Winnie farmed for the next 40 years, raising grain and livestock. In 1963 he won the Sheridan County Soil Conservation Award and in 2001 the Stober Farm was registered as a North Dakota Centennial Farm.

As a young man Paul dedicated his life to the Lord and followed Him in baptism. Paul served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher at First Baptist Church of Goodrich, and as a school board member and Farmer's Co-Op elevator board member. He and Winnie also raised their family of six children. Paul was a hard worker. He loved to remake and remodel, and over the years improved and added to the family home to meet the needs of the growing family. He also remodeled a country school house, he attended as a boy, into a workshop. At age 70, Paul retired from farming and got his CDL and spent six years as a driver for TL Trucking, McClusky. He was also a member of the Albert Block American Legion Post in Goodrich and served as the Sheridan County Veterans Service Officer.

Paul was a skilled welder and repaired equipment for many of his neighbors. He enjoyed hunting, woodworking, leatherworking, and reading. In 2011 he became a resident at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey and later moved to the Community Memorial Hospital in Turtle Lake.
