Patty Jo Verbitsky, 52 of Drake formerly rural Butte, ND died Saturday, September 11, 2021 at a Harvey Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 16, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Velva, ND.  Visitation will be on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. and a prayer service will follow on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Hertz Funeral Home of Harvey.  Burial will be in the Butte Cemetery, Butte, ND.

Patty Jo Schell, daughter of Larry and Peggy (Edwardson) Schell, was born on September 19, 1968 in Rolette, ND and entered into eternal life on September 11, 2021.

Patty attended Rolette High School graduating in 1986, then leaving for college to earn a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from Minot State University.

Patty was united in marriage to Shawn Verbitsky on October 16, 1999 in Drake, ND. They made their home on the Verbitsky family farm near Butte where they raised three kids, Taylor, Ashley, and Tanner.  Shawn passed away on April 22, 2013 after a fight with colon cancer.

Patty worked at Souris Valley Care Center as a dedicated and caring CNA for over 20 years until the time of her passing. Patty placed others needs before her own. Patty enjoyed doing many things in her life such as hunting, collecting antiques, rooting for the Vikings, and cross stitching.

On August 30, 2020 Patty was united in marriage to Jonathan Ryan Groves in Las Vegas. They moved to Drake and began sharing their life together. They spent countless hours doing things they loved. Traveling to Bismarck or Fargo for day trips, visiting St. Paul MN and touring one of her favorite singers' houses, Prince, and spending lots of time with each other.

Patty is survived by her husband Jonathan Ryan Groves of Drake; children, Taylor, Ashley, Tanner Verbitsky all of Butte; mother, Peggy Schell of Mylo; siblings, Cindy Schell of St. Paul, Minnesota, Robert (Edie) Schell of Harvey, Randy (Jeannie) Schell of Mylo; numerous nieces and nephews.  Patty was preceded in death by her husband, Shawn Verbitsky; father, Larry Schell.
