Obituary

Palma Victoria (Feil) Dockter, 93, died April 9, 2010 at the Turtle Lake Community Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at Grace Lutheran Church in McClusky. The burial will be in the Kassel Reformed Cemetery, rural Denhoff, ND. Reverend George Schuessler will be the officiating pastor. Friends may call at the Hertz Funeral Home in McClusky from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday April 13, 2010. Casket bearers will be Dean Ripplinger, Kevin Ripplinger, Dennis John Dockter, Dan Jager, Hilmer Hintz and Kim Gillund. Honorary pallbearers will be all of Palma's grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Organist will be Wayne Houston with special music by Ted Dockter. Palma was the daughter of Jacob and Ottilie (Dockter) Feil, she was so named because she was born on Palm Sunday on April 16, 1916 near Lincoln Valley, ND. She attended the local rural school where she obtained her elementary education. On July 7, 1935 Palma was united in marriage to Martin Dockter at the Kassel Reformed Church rural Denhoff. They established their home and farmed 14 miles south of Anamoose, ND until moving to Denhoff in 1957. While living in Denhoff, Martin worked for the Farmers Union Oil Co. and Palma became a seamstress, sewing for literally hundreds of people. As a seamstress she had her hand in countless weddings, sewed children's clothes, men's suits, made pillows, countless quilts and afghans for family members and friends. She always enjoyed sewing and continued sewing well into her eighties. She also enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking and baking German foods as well as singing with the Sheridan County German Singers. Palma was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in McClusky and a former member of Kassel Reformed Church of rural Denhoff for seventy plus years. Those who were privileged to share and celebrate her life are; one daughter, Marlene & Eugene Ripplinger of McClusky; two sons, Ted & Fran of Devils Lake, and Dennis & Rose of Starkweather; son-in-law, Darryl Betz of Garrison; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Lillie Feil of Rock Valley, Iowa and Arlene Feil of Colorado Springs, CO; numerous nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin; one daughter, Lorene Betz; one great-grandchild, Levi Jager; three brothers, Herbert, Arthur and Alfred Feil; one sister, Anna Dockter; sister-in-law, Ruth Feil; brothers in-law, Edward and Henry Dockter; brothers and sisters in-law, Herman & Hildegard Bonnet, Edwin & Frieda Frank, Pete & Christina Sprecher; and her parents and parents in-law.
