OD (Orville DeMott) Rhoads passed away May 17, 2017,  peacefully at his home surrounded by family.

OD was born on April 30, 1940 to Demott and Olivia (Hanson) Rhoads of McClusky.

OD was active in sports during his school years and graduated from McClusky High School in 1958.

OD served in the Army from 1958 to 1962 in the 205th Transportation Battalion at Flak Kaserne in Ludwigsburg, Germany.

After his discharge he worked at Berg Motor Supply in Bismarck. He then moved with his family to McClusky were he worked at Bennett's Body Shop. He started farming in 1972 where he worked until 1990. OD then moved to Rosemount, MN where he worked for Dakota Rhoads Masonry, before forming Rhoads Bros. Trucking with his brother.

OD married Virginia Coombs Bennett in Rosemount, MN on Sep 6, 1991. He formed many close and lifelong friends while living in Minnesota.

OD and Virginia retired to McClusky, where they continued the tradition of family and friend's gatherings in the backyard of his childhood home. He and childhood friend Jerry Kluck enjoyed cutting down trees for firewood and discussing future projects.

OD loved riding his Harley Davidson, hunting, and taking his grandchildren to the store on his golfcart. He was a member of the American Legion and was generous in his donations to children's charities. OD never lost his sense of humor throughout his life.

OD was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Virginia and his sister Glennis Thorson.

OD is survived by a brother Arlo (Renee) Rhoads; a sister Eunice Petter; 4 daughters, Jerri Van Sandt, Anchorage, AK; Darcie Crumpton, Acton, CA; Gable Rhoads, McClusky ND; and Dakota (Tom) Lasher of Hermantown, MN; 2 sons, Nate (Deb) Rhoads and Dan (Leslie) Rhoads, both of McClusky; 3 stepchildren, Sheldon and Steve Bennett and Tracy Jacobsen; 22 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and many beloved cousins, nieces and a nephews.

A memorial service for close friends and family will be held in July.
