Norlin Solberg 77 of Harvey died Tuesday March 1, 2011 at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home of Harvey.

Funeral services will be held at the First Lutheran Church of Harvey on Wednesday March 9, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will be held Tuesday March 8 from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Hertz Funeral Home of Harvey. Burial will be held at the Bethel Lutheran Cemetery rural Harvey.

Norlin was born on October 8, 1933 near Heimdal. He was the son of Nels and Hazel (Olson) Solberg. Norlin grew up and attended rural school near Heimdal and graduated from Maddock High School in 1951. As a young man he began farming with his father near Heimdal. Norlin married Carol Jones on July 8, 1956 near Maddock. They lived and farmed near Heimdal. Carol died on April 8, 1983. He retired from farming in 1996 for health reasons and moved to Harvey. Despite Norlin's health problems, including being blind for many years, he was proud to have lived independently. Norlin moved to the St. Aloisius Nursing Home of Harvey in the fall of 2007. Norlin served on the Heimdal Elevator Board and Fram Township Board. He was also a former member of the Bethel Lutheran Church of Heimdal and a current member of Wells Eagles Aerie and First Lutheran Church both of Harvey. Norlin enjoyed playing his accordion music, going for rides in his van and was an avid Harvey Hornets sports fan. Norlin enjoyed his nightly sports chalk talk with his special friend Tom Thiege who works at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home.

Norlin is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Gaylene and Mike Schindler of Harvey; sons and daughters-in-law, Terry and Cheryl Solberg of Fessenden, Todd and Carrie Solberg of Moorhead, MN; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Janice Baum-Johnson of Atascadero, CA.
Norlin was preceded death by his parents; wife, Carol; sons, Norlin Jr. Solberg, Tim Solberg.
