Nona Markovic, 77, Bismarck formerly of McClusky passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at the Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center in Bismarck.
Services will be held at the Grace Lutheran Church, McClusky on Saturday April 28 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held at the Hertz Funeral Home, McClusky on Friday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Burial will be in the McClusky City Cemetery.
Nona was born October 3, 1934 in Rhinelander, Wisconsin. She was the daughter of Arthur (A.E.) and June (Rainey) Churchill. The family moved to Larimore, ND where she graduated from high school in 1952. She became an X-ray Medical Technician upon completing a program in Minneapolis. Nona married Roger Markovic on August 5, 1955 in Larimore. He worked for the USDA and they moved often living in several Michigan and Minnesota communities. Roger later began working for the extension service in McClusky. Nona owned and operated McClusky Clothing and later drove a Highway Contract Mail Route for many years until rheumatoid arthritis set in. Roger passed away on August 4, 1988. Nona moved to Bismarck in 1992. She returned to McClusky and resided in the Sheridan Memorial home for several years. Nona moved to Mandan and lived in Elder Care with a special couple, Dave and Joyce Baker in their home for several years. Nona entered the Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center in January 2010.
Nona is survived by one daughter, Sherry (Kevin) Korus of Denhoff; three sons, Mark (Lynelle) Clear Lake, MN, Scott (Carol) of Bismarck, Shawn (Jessie) also of Bismarck; nine grandchildren, Nichole, Brett (Ashley), Curtis, Chelsey (David), Callie (David), Morgan, Madison, Macy and Chloe; five great-grandchildren, Maya, Maleah, Sylas, Eli and Wesley.
Nona was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roger; brother Roger Churchill.
