Nancy M Schneider

Nancy Mae (Faul) Schneider, 84, died peacefully on June 30, 2026, at Park View Care Center in Buffalo, Minnesota.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at 10:30 AM, at Peace Lutheran Church in Goodrich, ND. Visitation will be held at the Hertz Funeral Home of Harvey on Tuesday, July 7, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.

Burial will be in the Goodrich City Cemetery.

Nancy was born February 7, 1942, in Harvey, North Dakota, to Daniel and Elsie (Rittmiller) Faul. She had an older brother, Donald (Donnie) and two younger sisters, Marcella (Sally) and Grace.

Nancy grew up on a farm south of Harvey and attended high school in Fessenden and Harvey. She grew up attending and was baptized in the Mennonite Brethren Church in Harvey. On the farm, she helped milk the cows, even though it wasn’t her favorite job. She learned homemaking skills, including cooking, baking and food preservation from her mom, which she carried on into adulthood. She cared for her aunt Esther in Minneapolis summers during high school. After high school she worked as a nanny for several local families in North Dakota.

On September 30, 1962, Nancy married Dellas Schneider at the Mennonite Brethren Church in Harvey, ND. They had three children, Della, Stella, and Kristofer. They continued operating the Schneider family farm south of Goodrich, raising cattle and small grains. Nancy helped with farming, driving grain trucks and loading and hauling hay bales. In the summers she would plant a huge garden, expanding the size each year. The whole family was recruited to help with planting, weeding and harvesting. She would then preserve the produce, canning vegetables, fruits, and jams. She also raised chickens, and a few naughty ducks in the early years. She also love feeding and watching the birds, and continued that hobby as long as she was able in Goodrich and Rogers.

At Christmas she enjoyed making a large variety of cookies and candies to give away. She enjoyed doing crafts like quilting, embroidery, artex paints, and made floral arrangements for the fall church bazaar.

Nancy held positions in the church and enjoyed going to church conferences for the United Methodist Church. She loved southern gospel music and going to concerts when she could. She also loved going on road trips and bus trips with her friends later in life.

Nancy served on the Mauch township board and served as the Secretary/Treasurer for the Goodrich ambulance. She became certified as an EMT in the 90’s and served Goodrich and surrounding communities for many years. She was very proud to be an EMT and work as a State tester for many years.

She was never a fan of having dogs or cats in the house. That is, until she had grand-dogs. Then she was always willing to dog-sit and enjoyed taking them on truck rides around Rogers and the surrounding area.

Nancy will be best remembered for being a remarkable cook, keeping her German heritage alive by making and sharing recipes like Knoephla Soup, Chicken and Strudels, and Stirrum. She made the best potato salad, and many friends, family and neighbors requested it for functions like graduations. And for her love of socializing both in person and on the phone. Nancy never met a stranger and loved finding out where people were from and who they were related to.

Goodrich is where Nancy’s roots were planted. It was always her home, even after moving to Minnesota in 2016 to live near her kids. She stayed connected to Goodrich daily, whether through phone conversations with neighbors and friends, keeping up with the weather, or reading news online.

Nancy is survived and will be dearly missed by her daughter Della and son-in-law Jeff Schmidt of Rogers, MN; her son Kristofer and daughter-in-law Leah Schneider of Otsego, MN; her grandson Lucas Schmidt of Elk River, MN; her sisters Marcella (Lane) Wacek of Olivia, MN, and Grace Schaar of Eden Prairie, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter Stella Lou, and her brother Donald.
