Myron Thompson, 81, Harvey, ND died on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at the St. Aloisius Hospital, Harvey, ND. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at the Cornerstone Community Church South Campus in Harvey. Visitation will be on Monday, June 24, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Sunnyside Cemetery of Harvey.
Myron Thompson, 81, Harvey, ND died on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at the St. Aloisius Hospital, Harvey, ND. Myron was born on January 16, 1943, in Harvey to Melvin and Marie (Alveshere) Thompson. He grew up in Harvey and graduated from Harvey High School in 1961. He attended Hanson Mechanical Trade School in Fargo and after completing the autobody program returned to Harvey. He was employed by Roble Chevrolet and worked in autobody repair for a couple years. He married Mavis Faul on June 21, 1968, in Harvey. He became a driver for Sweetheart Bread and made deliveries in the areas surrounding Harvey until 1978. He then worked at Luke's Red Owl and for Kary's Red Owl and later Kary's Fairway Foods. He closed out his grocery store career at Ralph's Super Value Store in Harvey in 2007. Myron and Mavis lived in Harvey. He was a member of the Cornerstone Community Church in Harvey and served on the Sunnyside Cemetery Association Board. He was a member of the Teamsters Union. His hobbies also included woodworking and doing bodywork on and painting cars, trucks, and even tractors. Myron and Mavis would take their girls and sometimes friends of theirs on many camping trips. They enjoyed many trips to Medora and other points of interest in the surrounding states. They could be seen on summer nights cruising Harvey in their Chrysler convertible or during other seasons in their SUV. Myron and Mavis attended many community functions, especially following their grandchildren in their school and sports activities.
Myron is survived by his wife, Mavis; daughters, Melissa (Galen) Vollmer of Harvey, Melinda (Kurt) Landis of Bismarck; five grandchildren, Makenna, Jadyn and Kinley Vollmer, Mason and Kade Landis; numerous cousins. Myron was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Janice.
