Myrna Hieb Zueger 99 of Valley City formerly of Goodrich, ND died Monday March 22 at the Sheyenne Care Center of Valley City, ND. Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Goodrich on Saturday March 27 at 2:00 PM Visitation will be held at the Hertz Funeral Home of McClusky from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Goodrich City Cemetery.
Myrna was born on October 11, 1910 in Parkston, SD. She was the daughter of Robert and Louise (Reiswig) Bechthold. As a young girl, Myrna moved with her parents to the rural Lincoln Valley area northeast of McClusky. She attended rural school and graduated from McClusky High School. After graduation she attended nurses training in Chamberlain, SD. Myrna married Emil Hieb on March 29, 1937 in McClusky. They farmed northeast of McClusky near Lincoln Valley. In 1951, they purchased a business in Goodrich and moved there. They continued farming near McClusky. After selling their business Myrna was employed by Unruh Hardware in Goodrich until she retired. Emil passed away on September 30, 1970. She married Phillip Zueger in 1974. He passed away January 23, 2002. She moved to the Sheridan Memorial Home in McClusky in 2005 and in 2007 she moved to Valley City and resided at the Sheyenne Care Center. Myrna was a member of the First Baptist Church of Goodrich. She enjoyed singing in church, crocheting, playing cards, cooking, and hiding Christmas cookies from her sons in coffee cans. Myrna is survived by two sons, Jerry (LaWanna) Hieb of Valley City, ND, and Dean (Patricia) Hieb of Steele; five grandchildren, Troy Hieb, Duluth, MN, Tiffany (Brooks) Anderson, Fargo, Eric (Kali) Hieb, Bismarck, Jennifer (Jeff)Brown Wausau, WI, Marcus (Nada) Hieb, Wausau, WI; three great-grandchildren, Jackson and Mya Hieb, Wausau, WI, Joseph Hieb, Bismarck, ND. Myrna was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, sister, Golda Parkman, Brothers, Bill Bechthold, George Bechthold, Harvey Bechthold, Cecil Bechthold, Bob Bechthold. Myrna passed away at the Sheyenne Care Center, Valley City, ND under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
