Mitchell W. Helm , 63, of Athens, Alabama passed away on September 5, 2021.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, November 20, 2021 at 2pm at the McClusky Cemetery. Reverend Matthew Thompson will be officiating.  In the event of inclement weather, services will be held at St John's Lutheran Church. All are welcome to attend, and the family would like it if everyone were to join them afterwards at the Fellowship Hall at St. John's Lutheran Church.

Mitchell was born November 4, 1957 in Bismarck, ND. He was the son to Walter and Marilyn (Reiser) Helm. He was raised on the family dairy farm south of McClusky, ND and eventually moved to Washburn, ND where he worked as a mechanic at Farmers Union Oil Co.

Mitchell and his former wife Kristie Klatt lived in Washburn, ND where they raised their four children until 1988. From there, they moved their family to Athens, AL where Mitchell worked at Bill Penny Oldsmobile/Toyota until 1999. He began working at Elkins Garage in Ardmore, AL and in 2008 he bought the business. He renamed it Helm's Garage and ran it until the time of his death.

Mitchell always enjoyed cooking and collecting model cars like the 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air . His pride and joy that he loved the most was always spending time with his daughters and grandchildren.

Mitchell is survived by his four daughters, Margaret and Al Graham (Huntsville, AL), Megan Parker (Athens, AL), Marrin and Jason McCaleb (Athens, AL), and Marie and Lance Sims (Athens, AL); eight grandchildren, All'wyn and Julien (Margaret), Makenzie and Malachi (Megan), Nathen and Thea (Marrin) and Tyler and Riley Ann (Marie); two sisters, Connie and Dallas Pfennig (McClusky, ND) and Paula and Ben Johnston (Sykeston, ND); one niece, Miranda Howe; three nephews, Travis Pfennig, Jonah Johnston, and Brian Johnston.

Mitchell is preceded in death by his parents Walter and Marilyn Helm.
