Michael Salerno, 74 of Peoria, Arizona died Monday, May 15, 2017 at the Hospice of the Valley in Surprise, Arizona.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 25 at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey, ND..

Burial in the Country Mennonite Brethren Cemetery, rural Harvey, ND.

Michael was born October 3, 1942 in Long Island, New York. Michael spent part of his youth in New Jersey and many years in California. He moved to Arizona in 1976 and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, cooking, refinishing antiques, dumpster diving, and collecting discarded treasures. He loved the Arizona desert.   He also loved playing with and talking to his little Quaker parrot, Buddy. Michael is at peace now but will be missed by friends and family. No more suffering. No more pain. He is at rest and will rise when Jesus comes again.

He was preceded in death by his father Benjamin, mother Angela (Russo), and brother John. He is survived by his wife Carol (Baier) Salerno, his son Michael (Emma), his daughter Tammy, his sister Rosemary, his grandson David, two granddaughters Chelsea and KarLee, two great-granddaughters Raiya and Layla, and nieces, nephews, and cousins.
