Merwyn enjoyed his love of the land and farming until retiring from farming in 1996. Merwyn was a farmer at heart and ended many a hard  day's work with a bowl of popcorn or ice cream. In 1995 he attended and graduated from auctioneering school in Mankato, MN. After retiring from farming Merwyn kept busy with numerous jobs.
