Melvin Jesz formerly of McClusky, ND passed away on the evening of April 6, 2021 at the age of 91 in Shakopee, MN. Melvin's health had been declining over the past few years, but he still hung around despite the fact Violet has been (impatiently) waiting for him in heaven.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at the United Methodist Church, McClusky, ND. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday April 12 at Hertz Funeral Home, McClusky, ND. Burial will be in the McClusky City Cemetery.
Melvin was born on November 28, 1929 on the farm near McClusky, ND. He loved riding horses as a boy, the faster, the better. Melvin was a medic in the Army and served in the Korean war. While overseas, Melvin wrote to the love of his life, Violet. They were married on October 18, 1953. Their marriage was cut short at 52 years in 2006 when Violet passed away. He spent the last years of her life taking care of her 24 hours a day. He was a true example of unconditional love and had a marriage to aspire to. He loved farming, playing the accordion, cards and doing the polka!
He is survived by his daughter Joetta Teckmeyer, his brothers Welford and Ernie Jesz, his sisters Lorraine Volochenko and Charlotte Peterson, and his grandchildren Jordan Teckmeyer and Ashley Meek; great-granddaughter Ellie Meek.
Melvin was preceded in death by his wife Violet Jesz, nephew Jeff Zeeb, sister Vangie Willows, brother Clarence Jesz, mother Katie Hausauer and father Emmanual Jesz.
He was being held by his daughter Joetta and granddaughter Ashley when Jesus took him home.
