Mary Helm 94 of McClusky died Thursday, October 19, 2017 at the CHI St. Alexius Hospital of Bismarck.
Funeral services will be held at the St. John's Lutheran Church, McClusky on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at 11:00 a.m.
Visitation will be held at the Hertz Funeral Home of McClusky on Monday from 4 p.m. 7 p.m.
Burial will be in the McClusky City Cemetery.
Mary was born on November 17, 1922 on a family farm north of Pickardville, ND. She was the daughter of Peter and Katherine (Schell) Boehm. She attended the Profit Country School #2 through the 8 th grade. Mary married Julius Helm on August 3, 1940 in McClusky. Mary enjoyed life to the fullest and was always ready to try something new. She loved nature, the outdoors, her dogs and cats. Her home was always open for company and a good meal.
Mary was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church and LWML of McClusky for many years. She was a member the McClusky Senior Citizens and the Red Hats in her later years. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, ceramics, and reading. Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Mary and Julius traveled to 49 states in their retirement years. Following Julius death, she continued to travel often alone.
Mary is survived by her children, Diane (Allen) Dockter of Bismarck, Pearl (Steve) Kensmoe of McClusky, Wayne (Lynn) Helm of McClusky, Rick Helm of Beulah; grandchildren, Craig Dockter, Rhonda Jolliffe, Jason Dockter, Kelly Helm, Kevin Helm, Kent Kensmoe, Jennifer Tengesdal, and Mike Helm; great-grandchildren, Kelsey Sirgy, Sydney Sirgy, Nicklaus Jolliffe, Benjamin Jolliffe, Ashley Dockter, Landon Dockter, Aspen Helm, Aurora Helm, Jorgen Tengesdal, Aubrey Tengesdal, Kayla Mortinsen, Kennedy Kensmoe, and McKenna Kensmoe.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; Husband, Julius; sister, Barbara Jesz; brothers, Peter, Steve, Mike, Valentine and Edward. The Helm family wishes to thank the Missouri Slope Care Center and St. Alexius Hospital for their fine care.
