Marvin
Kissee
January 30, 1922 – January 21, 2018
LTGJ Marvin Kissee, US Navy and a part of "The Greatest Generation," passed away Sunday morning January 21, 2018 during a welcome home party sponsored and arranged by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Multitudes of service men, women, and family were in attendance. Marvin's reservation at the celebration was sealed when he responded to a personal invitation from the Lord Jesus Christ the one and only Son of God, the Creator of the Universe. The location of the party is in Heaven with Jesus at the Heavenly Father's residence. Invited guests will spend eternity together with God. You have an invitation -- purchased with the Love of Jesus on the Cross of Calvary when Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice for your reservation. This invitation will be withdrawn if you do not respond prior to your death, at which point you will be eternally separated from God. Marvin would encourage you to join him at the celebration. Please choose life.
Marvin and his honey, Mildred (Poelke) Kissee, were married January 7, 1945 in Norfolk, Virginia. He was a husband for just three days prior to shipping out to China. Marvin served honorably during WW2 in the Pacific Theater and the Korean Conflict. He was proud to serve his country and was recognized with an Honor Flight to Washington DC in 2010. This experience had a major effect on his life. He had, and continues to have, tremendous influence on his school students from the Kern River Valley in California as well as others with whom he has interacted over the years.
Marvin would have turned 96 on January 30. He was preceded in death by: his parents Pastor Richard Kissee and wife Myrtle (Umphress) Kissee; his brothers Richard, John, Wiley, John, Herrell, and Anderson; and his sisters Elizabeth [Kissee] List, Betty [Kissee] Eklund, and Majorie Kissee.
Marvin is survived by his brothers John and Vernon, his wife of 73 years 14 days, and his four wonderful children: daughter Rita Marvyne Kissee of Nashville, Tennessee; son William Michael Kissee, Sr. and wife Crystal of Fresno, California; son Bruce Anderson Kissee and wife LuAnn of Cascade, Idaho; and son Charles Norman Kissee, of Redding California. As of this writing, there are 24 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, and two great, great, grand-children. A beautiful legacy by any measure.
During their life together the family lived in Nampa, Idaho; Concord, California; Lake Isabella, California; and McClusky North Dakota. Marvin and Mildred recently moved to Boise, Idaho. Marvin attended Northwest Nazarene College/University, Notre Dame University, University of Oregon, and Bakersfield College.
