Marvin Gisi, 79, Harvey, ND died Saturday, December 8, 2012 at his Harvey residence.
Funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 13 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Selz, ND.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a Rosary Prayer Service at 7 p.m. at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey, ND.
Burial will be in the St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery, Selz, ND.
Marvin was born on July 1, 1933 at on the family farm near Selz, ND. He was the son of Anton and Mary (Volk) Gisi. He grew up on the family farm and attended school in Selz. He began farming the family farm. He served in the North Dakota National Guard for several years. Marvin married Judy Vought on September 28, 1963 in Garrison, ND. He was a farmer and school bus driver for the Selz Public School for many years. Judy died on March 26, 1989.
Marvin was a member of the St. Anthony Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Wells Eagles Aerie in Harvey and served for over 25 years on the Devils Lake Joint Water Board, the Upper Sheyenne Joint Water Board and the Pierce County Water Board. Marvin enjoyed collecting coins and tokens, attending flea markets, helping others and visiting friends. He had a wonderful sense of humor that brought a smile to many. He was very proud of his grandchildren and often said they were his inspiration.
Marvin is survived by his long-time companion Shirley Kittelson of Harvey; three daughters Stephanie (Richard) Lundy, of Greensboro, NC, Michele (Del) Alvarez and Chantel (Dion) Rude both of San Antonio, TX; eight grandchildren Brandyon Brooks, Chris Brooks, Nicole Alvarez, Meghan Alvarez, Matt Hodge, Cortney Rude, Kody Rude and Clifford Harris; two great-grandchildren, Gabriel Alvarez-Vargas and Jaylynn Hodge; sisters, Rita (Jack) Doering of Minot, Leah (Ed) Gumeringer of Esmond, Maggie (Loren) Willard of Barnesville, MN, JoAnn (Ron) Trom of Grand Rapids, MN, Mary (Glen) Lueck of Lidgerwood; brothers, Jim (Stephina) Gisi of Rapid City, John (Sandy) Gisi of Phoenix, Leon (Peggy) Gisi of Harvey.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Judy.
