Marvin Batsch 77 of Harvey died Sunday May 27, 2012 at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home of Harvey. Funeral services will be held at the First Lutheran Church of Harvey on Thursday May 31, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will be held at the Hertz Funeral Home of Harvey on Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Burial will be held at the Gackle Cemetery of Gackle, North Dakota.
Marvin was born January 1, 1935 on the family farm 12 miles south of Gackle, North Dakota. He was the son of Edward and Bertha (Gumke) Batsch. As a young boy he grew up on the family farm near Gackle. At the age of 7 he attended several developmental centers. In September of 1983 he moved to Harvey where he began working for Hav-it Industries. While working for Hav-it he worked at the recycling center and the St. Aloisius Hospital. Marvin loved his job and made many friends in the community thru this adventure. On September 18, 2011 Marvin retired due to health reasons and he proudly received a plaque for his many years of work at Hav-It Industries.
Marvin was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Harvey where he served as an usher and greeter. Marvin also enjoyed attending Wednesday mornings at the First Lutheran Church with a group called breakfast with the boys. Marvin was member of the Harvey Senior Citizens, Wells Eagles Aires both of Harvey. Marvin also enjoyed listening to country western music.
Marvin is survived by four brothers, Raymond (June) Batsch of Jamestown, Elmer (Doris) Batsch of Gackle, Leanord (Charlotte) Batsch of Valley City, Eugene Batsch of Minot; sisters, Annetta (Arnold) Schlecht of Gackle, Doris (Clifton) Hill of Columbia, MO; brother-in-law, Mel Schuldt of Yuma, AZ; sister-in-law, Violet Batsch of Jamestown; numerous nieces and nephews.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Edwin Batsch, Jacob Batsch, Norbert Batsch, Roland Batsch; sisters, Lorraine Moench, Florence Batsch, Gertrude Schuldt, and one infant sister; sister-in-law, Loretta Batsch; brother-in-law, Ted Moench.
