Marlys Piatz, 79, Harvey, ND passed away on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at the St. Aloisius Hospital in Harvey, ND with her family by her side.

Funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 13 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Harvey, ND.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday with a Rosary Prayer Service at 7 p.m. at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey, ND.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Marlys was born May 30, 1937 to Harley and Lydia (Stolz) Boese. She was raised in Manfred, ND and graduated in 1955 from Harvey High School. She attended Minot Teacher's College and received her teaching certificate.

Marlys married Ed Piatz on May 2, 1957. They had 6 children. Marlys and Ed resided in Harvey for most of their lives, until moving to Bismarck a few years ago.

Marlys felt her most important job was being a homemaker. She did teach in rural Harvey and Manfred for a couple years and also held several part time jobs. She loved watching her children and grandchildren in many school events and her great grandchildren were always a joy to her heart.

Marlys was a long time member of Friendly Neighbors Homemakers, VFW & Eagles Auxilaries, Befrienders, and Cursillo to name a few. Marlys was a kind loving person and always had a smile. She was very generous with helping others. Marlys had a friend wherever she went!

Marlys is survived by her children: Dean; JoAnn (Rick) Randall all of Minot; Dale (Maria) Tacoma, WA; Jim, Bismarck; Nancy (Steve) Gallagher, Bottineau; 9 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; siblings: Butch (Darlene) Boese and Dave (Sharon) Boese all of MN.; several nieces, nephews and countless dear friends. She will be greatly missed by all!

Marlys was preceded in death by her husband Ed on July 28, 2012; son Doug; parents; sister Donna (Bob) Foster; infant brother James; son-in-law Greg Sauber and grandson Lee Randall.
