Marlys Keller, 92, Harvey, ND died on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 19, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Harvey, ND. Visitation will be Friday, July 18 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. followed by a Rosary and prayer service at 7 p.m. at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey, ND. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Marlys was born on December 19, 1932, on the family farm south of Harvey. She was the daughter of Emil and Leona (Stuber) Filler. She attended the Pony Gulch Township school. While attending high school in Harvey she was selected "Princess of The Prairie" at the Rural Wells County Fall Festival. Marlys graduated from Harvey High School in 1950. She worked at a local coffee shop, Berg's 5 and Dime Wholesale Store, and the Harvey Bakery. She moved to Denver in 1950. Marlys married Gabriel Keller on November 22, 1951, in Denver. They lived there for one year and moved back to Harvey where they raised seven children. Marlys worked as the bookkeeper for Keller Plumbing and Heating for over 25 years.
Marlys was a member of the St. Cecilia Catholic Church and its Altar Society and the Catholic Daughters of The Americas, and served on the decorating committee. She was also a member of the Wells Aerie Eagles Auxiliary and VFW Auxiliary in Harvey. Marlys enjoyed cooking, baking, camping and gardening. She took much pleasure in tending her beautiful flowers. Marlys was a daily visitor to the St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey and would visit family, friends and other residents for over 10 years.
Marlys will be forever remembered as a kindhearted gentle soul, mother and friend and putting others before herself. Her contagious smile and generosity will forever be instilled in the hearts of her family and friends. She treasured Gabriel her husband of 60 years who died on October 24, 2011; her children, Gary (Deb) Keller of Harvey, Valerie (Joey) Gross of Minot, Dora (Dave) Heil of Harvey, Cyndy (Jim) Sitar of Brookings, SD, Marla (Cliff) Calheim of Jamestown, Kevin (Cheryl) Keller of Columbia Falls, MT, Colleen (Dennis) Wipf of Harvey; 22 grandchildren; 46 greatgrandchildren; 7 great-greatgrandchildren.
Marlys was preceded in death by her parents; husband; granddaughter Tami Alveshere; sisters, Delores Lucht and Donna Monson; infant brother Eugene; brothers, Raymond and Emil Filler; half-brother, LeRoy Filler.
