Marlene Hauser, 75 of Harvey died Tuesday October 14, 2014 at the St. Aloisius Hospital, Harvey.
Funeral services will be at the First Lutheran Church, Harvey on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at 10:30 a.m.
Visitation will be Friday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey.
Burial will be in the Sunnyside Cemetery, Harvey.
Marlene was born on August 28, 1939 in Harvey to Ervin and Minnie (Reichenberger) Helm. Marlene grew up on the family farm near Coal Mine Lake. The family moved to a farm six miles south of Martin. She grew up there, attended country school and then also the Martin Public School. As a young woman she worked at Kirton's Café in Harvey. Marlene married Dennis Hauser on October 25, 1959 in Martin. They lived north of Martin where they farmed and milked cows. Marlene was a school bus driver for several years. When the children left home Marlene went back to work. She worked at Berg's 5 and 10 store, Coast to Coast and also Penny Pinchers all in Harvey.
Marlene enjoyed working with flowers, making birdhouses and embroidering dish towels.
Marlene was a member of the United Methodist Church of Martin where she taught Sunday School, Bible School and a member of the church decorating committee.
Marlene and Dennis moved to Harvey in 1993. Marlene enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Marlene is survived by her husband, Dennis of Harvey; daughter, Joleen (Allan) Keller of Anamoose; son, Darwin (Helen) of Maple Grove, Minnesota; 4 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; sisters, Lillian Breckel of Cooperstown, Lois Stuber of Fargo; brother, Vernon (Delores) Helm of Harvey; brother-in-law, Lloyd Opp of Harvey; sister-in-law, Stella Helm of Kent, Minnestota.
Marlene was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Eunice Opp; brother, Glen Helm; brothers-in-law, Walter Breckel and Walter Stuber.
