Marion J. Bartsch, 81, Bismarck formerly of Harvey died Monday, September 8, 2014 at the St. Alexius Hospital, Bismarck.

Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday September 12 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Harvey.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday with prayer services at 7 p.m. at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey, ND.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Marion was born on February 4, 1933 at Selz, ND. She was the daughter of Michael and Barbara (Kunnanz) Richter.  She grew up near Selz and attended the Selz Public School. Marion married Victor Bartsch on October 30, 1950 in Selz. They lived and farmed south of Esmond.

Marion was a nurse's aide for a time at the St. Aloisius Hospital in Harvey. She was a server and barmaid at various businesses in the Selz, Esmond and Harvey communities. Marion cooked at the Eagles Club and American Legion and VFW Club in Harvey. Marion also stained and varnished woodwork in many area homes.

They retired from farming and moved into Harvey in 1995. Victor passed away on June 3, 2004. Marion moved to Bismarck in 2009.

Marion enjoyed baking and cooking for the grandkids and neighbors. She had a love for quilting and belonged to the Corpus Christi Quilting Club in Bismarck. She loved to play cards with family and friends. Marion also enjoyed an occasional game of Bingo.

Marion was a member of the St. Cecilia Catholic Church of Harvey. She was also a member of the Wells Eagles and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliaries both in Harvey.

Marion is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Wurgler and special friend Doug Ross and her son Nathan of Watford City, sons, James of Anamoose, Ronald and Julie and their children Amanda (fiancé Jon Breidenbach) and Brandon (fiancé Karmen Klein) of Bismarck, Kevin his child, Paige of Casselton; one great-grandchild, Austin Wurgler; sisters, Christina Carlson, Billings, MT, Eunice Kraft of Grand Junction, CO.

Marion was preceded in death by her parents; husband; grandchildren, Ryan Bartsch and Jessica Wurgler; great-grandchild, Samatha Wurgler; five brothers, George, Anton, Maddis, John and Pius; four sisters, Catherine Leintz, Ceil Dellaport, Barbara Korleski and Ella Mae Goldade.
