Obituary



Margene Filler, 84 of Harvey formerly of rural Anamoose, ND died Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 4 at First Lutheran Church, Harvey, ND.

Visitation will be Friday from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a public prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at the Hertz Funeral Home of Harvey.

Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, Harvey, ND.

Margene was born on July 6, 1930 in Harvey, ND. She was the daughter of David and Minnie (Putz) Hirschkorn. Margene graduated from the Anamoose High School and received her teaching certificate at Minot State College. She taught in rural schools in Sheridan County.

Margene married Walter Filler on June 8, 1952 in Martin, ND. They lived and farmed south of Anamoose. She was a foster parent for many years.

Margene enjoyed quilting, gardening and loved preparing food and entertaining her family and friends.

Margene was a member of First Lutheran Church and First Lutheran Church Women in Harvey.

Margene is survived by her husband Walter of Harvey; daughters, Candra (Brian) Tessmann of Fargo, Pamela (Butch) Akers of Harwood, ND; sons, Reed Filler of Harvey, ND, Ryan (Kristi) Filler of Goodrich; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three sisters, Jeanette (Alfred) Martin of Balfour, ND, Eileen (David) Miller of Dickinson, ND, Dianne (Pete) Bader of Tracy, MN.

Margene was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Delores Gienger.
